BSIS403T3 Lateral Blind Radar is a 77GHz Vehicle millimeter-wave radar sensor independently developed by CIST Electronics GmbH., featuring both functional-level and target-level detection capabilities. It is designed for target-level detection and meets the requirements for medium/large commercial vehicle Blind Spot Information Systems (BSIS) under UN R151 regulations. Installed on both sides of the vehicle, it achieves high accuracy and high-resolution perception of pedestrians, bicycles, and other targets within a ±90° Field of View (FoV).

The allowable installation area of the radar on the vehicle is shown in the diagram below. The transmitting side of the radar should faces out, with the connector on the back facing inward. The radar can be installed at the front, middle, or rear side positions of the vehicle to cover the areas required by the BSIS system, allowing for flexibility in choosing the final installation location based on specific needs.
Radar Installation Height: 600mm to 1000mm
Installation position: left and right sides of the body, can be installed inside and outside the covering
Installation Yaw Angle: Radar normal direction perpendicular to the vehicle body, with an error tolerance of ±3°
Installation Pitch Angle: Vertical to the ground, with an error tolerance of ±3°
Within a horizontal FOV of 180° and a vertical FOV of 60° from the radar center: No metal obstructions, no obstructions with inconsistent material thickness.
The shape should be as flat as possible, with uniform thickness, and no sharp structures
Hydrophobic
The angle α between the radar beam and the cover part is less than or equal to 70 degrees
Radar and cover distance D > 5mm
The covers are made of plastic material and should not contain carbon fiber or metal
Recommended materials and thickness for covers (can be an integer multiple of the values in the table)
Material | Thickness(mm) |
ABS | 3.51 |
PP | 4.04 |
PA | 3.74 |
PC | 3.71 |
PC-PBT | 3.64 |
